Trump Protest on 6th Street in Austin
Warning some of the photos may be considered objectionable for children.
Last night I was photographing a party on the 6th street area of Austin Texas when a homeless gentleman approached me and asked if I had gotten any good pics of the Trump Protest. I said, “No”, and he pointed to a distant crowd and said, “Well they are coming your way”. I am thinking “Holly Crap”, and sprung into action taking pics of the Trump Protest.
I am not going to interject my opinion because I know the Trump election has literally led to friends hating each other. So I will give the facts.
For starters there was approximately six motorcycle cops clearing the way so that the Trump protestor crowd could walk down what is normally referred to as Dirty Sixth. The actual crowd was approximately between 100 to 200 protestors. I had a hard time getting a good head count. There was a lady with a bull horn and she kept chanting “Out of the bars, and into the streets.” as the Trump protestor crowd marched the street. I am assuming they were hoping the people in the bars would clear out of the bars and support the Trump protestor’s cause. However, no bar patrons seemed to join their cause. I did see people on the side walks of 6th street yell out insults to the Trump protestors. I even overheard a couple of girls that were standing on the sidewalks say, “Someone should run these people over.” I realized the cops were their to protect the Trump protestors from the bystanders, and not the other way around. There was a definite palpable hate amongst the Trump protestors and the bystanders. No one was physically hurt.
